The New 2007 Scheme - nuvos.

New pension arrangements for New Entrants to the Northern Ireland Civil Service on or after 01 July 2007*.

*Please note that the date has been amended to 30 July 2007.

An office notice was issued to all NICS staff in February 2007 announcing Cabinet Office plans to introduce new pension arrangements for staff joining the Home Civil Service (HCS) on or after 01 July 2007. An accompanying letter informed staff that in the NICS the Principal Civil Service Pensions Scheme Northern Ireland (PCSPS[NI]) operates on a policy of parity with the HCS Scheme, the Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme (PCSPS) and that the normal approach is to introduce the same pension provisions for new entrants to the NICS as those that apply to the HCS.
The Cabinet Office has now announced that the new scheme is to be called nuvos. Therefore, the normal approach would be for Civil Service Pensions (CSP) to introduce the same arrangement, also called nuvos, for new entrants to the NICS from 01 July 2007.
A Question and Answer brief, prepared by the Cabinet Office, was issued with the Office Notice in February 2007. This provided the most up to date information available on the new arrangements at the time. The brief has now been revised by Cabinet Office to include additional information and responses to issues raised by members of the PCSPS. A copy of the revised Questions and Answers brief is available by clicking the following link;
CSP will provide updates on the new arrangements as soon as are received from Cabinet Office. If you have any queries please email us at cspensions.cpg@dfpni.gov.uk or call us on 028 7131 9000.
