Additional schemes
This section provides details of the following additional Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) schemes:
- Northern Ireland Civil Service Additional Voluntary Contribution Scheme (NICSAVCS)
The NICSAVCS provides retirement benefits on a money purchase basis in addition to those that you will receive from your main NICS pension scheme. The NICSAVCS can also provide life cover.
- Civil Service Compensation Scheme Northern Ireland [CSCS(NI)]
The CSCS (NI) provides compensation for civil servants retired early. It covers most permanent civil servants, including those who have opted out of all NICS pension arrangements.
- The Civil Service Injury Benefits Scheme Northern Ireland [CSIBS(NI)]
The CSIBS (NI) provides compensation if you sustain a qualifying injury during the course of your official duties which then impairs your earning capacity.
- Stakeholder pension
Anyone can take out a stakeholder pension. There is no limit to the amount you can contribute. We have chosen Standard Life as the Stakeholder pension provider for the NICS.
